who is "me"?

I am a composer

I belong to a composers' consortium, Terza Prattica, that believes music should be accessible to a broad audience while maintaining its artistic integrity. I write all sorts of music, classical, musical theatre, and sacred. Listen to some of it on my website (www.rjnestor.com—yes, you've found me out, I'm R.J. Nestor).

I music direct musicals.

I've done over 30 in the last 6 or 7 years, and I'm not planning to stop any time soon. Whether I'm working with professionals or amateurs and no matter their age, nothing is more fun than getting together to put on a show (not even making persuasive videos for give-me-a-buck.com).

I am a voice teacher and piano accompanist

Between my voice studio and my accompanying studio I currently work with 40 students. Working one-on-one with students to develop voices is deeply rewarding: watching them grow as singers and performers, and knowing that I am part of that growth, excites me.

I am a church musician

As Minister of Music at a Presbyterian church, I serve as organist, choir director, bell choir director, and as general music coordinator. We have a wonderful program filled with wonderful people and I am privileged to work there.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So what?

Clearly, none of this entitles me to your bucks. But that's the fun of this website. Give me a buck, money you'd throw away on a candy bar or a soda (if you can even find a soda for under a buck), and know that, at the worst, you wasted a buck. At the best, you joined others in helping a guy be creative. If a lot of people give a few bucks, well, that's a lot of money. We'll see what happens.

Won't you please give me a buck?
